I don’t remember a time that Art was not a part of my life. My Grandfather, Uncles, Cousins were and are Artisans in their own right. Woodcarving to mosaic art to toy design to glass blowing to pottery, painting and photography-so many mediums were mastered by members of my family. I started at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, N.Y. when I was 5 years old. Through the years oil painting, charcoal, drawing, photography, water colors and kiln-fired clay were all explored. Years later while working in Corporate Relocation, a co-worker showed me pictures found on the internet of “fondant” babies. After doing a little research I found out these babies weren’t made out of fondant, but from polymer clay. And the rest, they say, is history! From the moment I put a lump of clay in my hands, I fell in love! I never know when I pick up my clay whether my baby will be a boy or a girl, 2” or 7”, bald or a head of hair-I let my hands and heart decide. My babies are OOAK Art dolls and I am always surprised to see what my heart told my hands to create. I love making all of my clay babies’ clothes (except for crocheted outfits). For me, it is a way to enhance and expand their personalities. I am self-taught and appreciate and commend my fellow OOAK artists and the Guild for their never-ending support, suggestions and assistance. All Dolls are made with Prosculpt, exclusively
